Dating Ideas for the Summer of '21
With the Summer solstice in full affect, many people that have been socially distanced during the pandemic are yearning to have many outdoor activities. Here are some outdoor dating ideas that you can try this summer:.
Did you know you can rent a kayak at the Charles River? If you go to Paddle Boston at the Allston / Brighton location, you can kayak down the Charles. From there you can dock your kayak at the Kendall Square boathouse. You are now minutes from the Esplanade!
Outdoor movie night.
During the summer, there are outdoor screenings at the Hatch Shell of beloved movies. You can click here to see the Friday night lineup all summer long.
Burn some calories before an ice cream.
If you are at TD Garden, you can find the Nashua Street Blue Bikes station to rent a bike (or of course use your own). You can bike over to Harvard Square and then enjoy an ice cream from one of the many restaurants in the area, or try Pressed Juicery on Mass Avenue.
Visit the Harbor Islands
You don’t need to book an expensive ticket to Hawaii if you want to go island hopping – you can do so right in the Harbor! (Pronounced HAH – buh). From West to East, there’s Spectacle Island, Peddocks Island, Georges Island, and Little Brewster Island. Spectacle Island has over 5 miles of hiking trails. Peddocks Island has camping grounds, Georges Island has Fort Warren, and Little Brewster Island is home to the nation’s first lighthouse. You can hop on and off all the islands within one day – setting you back about $20 per ticket! You may want to pack lunch so you can have a picnic you’ll never forget, surrounded by all the natural beauty.
Observe the stars.
Reading this, you might be thinking of the Museum of Science, which is another great experience, but if you want something a little more low-key, you can attend the Judson B. Coit Observatory at Boston University. To limit the number of people, tickets are required. You can learn more by visiting BU’s website here.
You might be thinking of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It’s a great museum! However, for a date night you probably want something more intimate. That’s why we’re considering the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It’s a small museum that showcases her personal collection of Italian Renaissance art, among other pieces. This small museum also has a beautiful courtyard that would be great for taking pictures. Take your time and enjoy the walk. If you’re hungry, then you can walk over to the New American Café inside the Museum of Fine Arts, since both of these museums are next to each other!
These are just a few ideas to consider if you want to have a romantic getaway in Boston. Of course, there are many more things to explore throughout Boston and Greater Boston. Do you have any suggestions? Please do not hesitate to leave a comment below.
